Pre- World Junior Championships training Camp Bydgoszcz, Poland
One hundred and nine (109) athletes and forty two (42) officials from 18 MFs; AIA, AHO, BAH, BAR, BER, CAY, CUB, DMA, GRN, GUY, IVB, JAM, MNT, NCA, PUR, TRI, VIN and ISV participated in the RDC San Juan training camp in Bydgoszcz, Poland from June 29 to July 6, 2008, leading into the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships (WJC).

Forty eight (48) countries won medals at the 12th IAAF WJC. Of this number six (6) Caribbean countries were among the medalists, with a total of 20 medals, heading the list was Cuba (8), followed by Jamaica (6), Bahamas (2), Grenada (2), Saint Kitts & Nevis (1) and Trinidad and Tobago (1). Caribbean athletes were also responsible for eight (8) National Junior Records (NJ) and two (2) World Leading Times (WLJ). Interestingly, from the medalists only St. Kitts & Nevis were not part of the camp this year, owing to problems with flights.

For the first time a Physiotherapist and a Massage Therapist were added to the management team for the RDC camp, thus facilitating optimum training and competition performances of the athletes. The coaches’ round table discussions and the closing cultural night continued to be integral parts of these camps.

The RDC will host its next training camp for athletes participating in the 6th IAAF World Youth Championships (WYC) from July 8 – 12, 2009 in Bressanone, Italy.
